Bill Huizenga ('09) Wins Michigan 2nd District Republican Primary
Bill Huizenga ('09) became the Republican Nominee for the U.S. House of Representatives from Michigan's 2nd District, defeating six other candidates in the August 3rd Republican primary.  Bill has been involved in Western Michigan politics since 1997, when he began working as the Director of Public Policy for incumbent U.S. Representative Peter Hoekstra.  A former 3-term member of the Michigan State House of Representatives, he is also a businessman, and is co-owner of Huizenga Gravel Co.  Bill will face his Democratic opponent in the November 2nd General Election.

Christoph Schaltegger ('08) Joins University of Lucerne Faculty

Dr. Christoph Schaltegger ('08) has been appointed to become a Full Professor of Economics at the University of Lucerne.  Formerly head of finance and tax policy as well as a member of the executive board at economiesuisse, the Swiss business association, Christoph also served as a personal adviser to the Swiss Minister of Finance, Federal Councillor Hans-Rudolf Merz, supporting him in the areas of tax policy and international fiscal policy. Earlier he worked in the research division of the Swiss Federal Tax Administration and as a research fellow at the Universities of St. Gallen and Basel. Christoph has been published extensively in leading academic journals in the fields of economics and political science. He earned his Ph.D. in economics from the University of Basel in 2003, analyzing the economic effects of fiscal institutions in the Swiss federalist system.
