Dr. Christoph Schaltegger (YL '08) has been appointed to become a Full Professor of Economics at the University of Lucerne.  Formerly head of finance and tax policy as well as a member of the executive board at economiesuisse, the Swiss business association, Christoph also served as a personal adviser to the Swiss Minister of Finance, Federal Councillor Hans-Rudolf Merz, supporting him in the areas of tax policy and international fiscal policy. Earlier he worked in the research division of the Swiss Federal Tax Administration and as a research fellow at the Universities of St. Gallen and Basel. Christoph has been published extensively in leading academic journals in the fields of economics and political science. He earned his Ph.D. in economics from the University of Basel in 2003, analyzing the economic effects of fiscal institutions in the Swiss federalist system.
